SOUTHBEND BAIT COMPANY
The South Bend Bait Company began sometime in 1910, headquartered
in South Bend, Indiana. Mainly known for their Bass-Oreno lures, but they also made many other collectible
lures, reels, and rods. Important dates within the South Bend company: Earliest known catalog 1912,
Introduced Bass-Oreno with No Eyes, Started to stamp propellers with "South Bend" in 1919, Bass-Oreno
transistioned from No Eyes to Glass Eyes in 1925, Transitioned from Glass to Tack Eyes in 1935, Transitioned
from Tack to Pressed Eyes in 1949, company is sold to Gladding in 1954.
